2013/2014 Undergraduate Project Students (From left to right): Eric Asante, Zakari Mohammed Sanusi, Mary Chukwufunaiya Mensah, Richard Acheampong, Evans Elikem Ametepey, Samuel Anokye.
They worked on the regio-selectivity of 1,3-dipolar [3 + 2] cycloaddition reactions of a series of substituted methylenecyclopropanes with nitrones.
2014/15 Undergraduate Project Students. From left: Daniel Zilevu, Justina Adu-Boahene, Wisdom Koku Evadzi, Kwadwo Owusu. Inset: Stephen Antwi.
Daniel worked on homogeneous transition metal catalysts for lignin depolymerization; Justina worked on nucleophilic ring-opening reactions of beta-lactones; Wisdom worked on blocking the fatty acid oxidation pathway in living cells; Kwadwo worked on allene hydrosilation reactions catalyzed by N-heterocyclic carbene comeplexes of palladium; Stephen worked on fatty acid oxidation inhibitors.
2015/2016 Undergraduate Project students. From left: Evans Fosu, Yahya Suleymana, Godfred Sunyele, Ernest Opoku and Elizabeth Yaribil. Evans worked on Diels-Alder reactions of cyclobutenones, Yahya worked on the intermolecular [2 + 2] photocycloaddition of allenes with 2-cyclopentenones, Godfred worked on selenium dioxide-mediated oxidation of 2-methylene-2-heptene, Ernest worked on transition-metal-assisted formation of 1,2-dinitrosoalkanes and Elizabeth worked on the reactions of cyclopentadienyl dinitroso complexes of group IX with alkenes.
